Guess what
Slept through the night! We put them down at 9:45 and besides a little emma cate swaddle readjustment by daddy around 3am, they didn't wake up until 5:45. Hoping this is not a fluke!

I can’t believe it’s been a month!
I can't believe it's been almost a month since I've last blogged! Month one was definitely crazy.
For starters, we just learned about 6 days ago that both babies have allergies to dairy and soy. That's right, this mama has been soy and dairy free for 6 days. Its been hard but as of the 5th day my babies were feeling so much better and I know that I can do it for them. I'm excitedly meeting with a health coach soon to help me navigate my way around Earth Fare and Whole Foods to select the best products for this type of diet. Stay tuned for my dairy and soy free recipes!
Here's our month in pictures and stories:
Shortly after turning a month old we brought the twins out to dinner with friends. Its so great to have friends to hold and feed your babies while you enjoy a hot meal!

We visited Freedom Park for the first time! It was HOT! We hung out in the shade and enjoyed a picnic lunch. We decided not to go for a walk like originally planned and headed back home for some playtime in the AC.

Daddy decided to put his beloved Jeep up for sale. Unfortunately it had not been driven all summer and we had no plans of putting two little babies in that thing! We've decided to buy a new Jeep in the spring that has all of the modern safety features that we'd feel comfortable putting car seats in.

We hung around the house a lot and I took lots of cute baby in boppy pictures. Our weekdays are pretty much spent hanging out while I try to keep the house tidy. This is the first week I used my stove in a LONG time! We hosted several playdates (none of which I took pictures of!) Liam, Cora, and Sutton all came by for visits this week!

We took another trip to Asheboro to hang out with our Carroll/Caviness family. Papaw Marvin is always so happy to see the twins. When we're at home, he'll have Jay's mom (Gran) call so that he can sing lullabyes to the babies before they fall asleep. So sweet.
7-28-12
We took the babies to church for the first time this month! You can tell that it's summer because the service was empty and we didn't get to see any of our friends! We enjoyed a great sermon though and Pastor Tracie welcomed the twins to their first service during our prayer section! After the service, they were able to meet so many of the people that had been praying for them while they were still in my tummy.

This may be a little tmi for most of you but I wanted to remember this day (don't ask me why...) Jay and I decided that since none of our friends were at church on Sunday we would just go home instead of our normal out to eat Sunday lunch. Shortly after leaving church we decided to take the babies out to eat by ourselves anyway. We pulled over to a parking lot so I could pump, we could feed babies and change diapers before heading the restaurant. Everything was going great, I was done pumping, and went to the back of the car to change Emma Cate (Jay had already fed both of them and changed Holden). Emma Cate unleashed her infamous explosive poo and it got all over me, the car, and Jay who was standing over my left shoulder. We couldn't do anything but laugh. After the explosive incident, she also peed on two diapers as I was putting them on and we ended up going through 4 cloth diapers in one change and settled on a disposable. At the end Jay said, "If I was wearing darker colored pants I'd still go out to lunch" to which I responded that we were the parents of twins 6 weeks old and I didn't care if I did have poo stains on me I was going out to eat anyway. He agreed and after some major cleaning and sanitizing off we went!
Laughing because what else can you do

Our chest freezer is FILLED to the brim with milk. I'm hoping that the babies get over their allergy by some point so that we can use this milk. If not, I'm hoping there is a bank I can donate to.

Go Pack
We took the babies for their first long weekend and headed to Atlanta to visit Gigi and Pop Pop. I think I spent two days packing! We tried to drive straight through from Charlotte but had to stop about an hour outside of Atlanta for bottles and diaper changes. The weather was terrible and it poured most of the drive down. We are a little nuts and took both dogs with us. Probably won't be doing that anytime soon! We had a CRAZY visit. We arrived late Thursday night and didn't get much sleep. Friday was spent laying around the house and running errands. We had a cookout Friday night with my mom, dad, aunt allie, and brett. Aunt Bo flew in later that night.
After dinner we got a called from my parent's realtor that their house was going to be shown the following morning and we needed to be out between 11-3. The messed up our plan to go to the aquarium early in the am, come home and rest before the braves game that evening. We figured that we'd take the dogs to doggy day care and just go to the aquarium later and straight to the game after. Turns out our dogs' shots had expired the month prior! We ended up taking 4 dogs, 2 babies and the whole family to the park for the morning only to have torrential rain at the park. We scrambled to figure out where to take dogs and stay out of the rain and ended up eating our picnic lunch in the parking deck of Phipps Plaza! What a sight! It was crazy but a fun memory none the less. We ended up still making it to the aquarium and the braves game! Such a fun weekend hanging out with family.

Gigi scared everyone at the exhibit by dangling Emma Cate over the edge for a closer view! We DIED laughing at everyone's faces. It appeared that she was going to dunk her in!

We headed back to Charlotte on Sunday morning but not before finishing up some laundry (pics of Holden helping... don't mind the purple paci) and getting in some last minute cuddles with Gigi

Holden has been LOVING tummy time! I think it's the only thing that really relieves his tummy pain. Emma Cate... not so much!
8-7-12
More lounging took place this week. Looking at this post, that really seems like all we do! In actuality, the twins and I are on the go! Everyday we get out of the house. Usually we run errands, head to the mall to walk in the AC, have friends over to play (sleep), or have lunch with Gigi. I just don't really take pictures when we're on the go! I need to be better about that!

I started back coaching this week and the twins came with! Its been busy and I've been carting them everywhere but they've adapted well. They got sooo spoiled at cheer camp and were held all the time by my former students and cheer moms.
