Seabrook Day 2

We're starting to settle into our little vacation routine. Wake up, make breakfast, eat out on the screened in porch in the humidity (the only table that will accommodate the babies' seats), play for a bit and hit the pool. Yes, technically we are on a "beach" vacation but the beach seems a little intimidating for two adults and two one year olds. Aunt Bo arrived tonight and so we are thinking of trying it tomorrow. Holden is walking more and more each day and it is sooo funny. I need to capture it for instagram.

Here are a few randoms throughout the day

we stayed at the pool until 1 today. the twins fell asleep in the stroller on the walk home. it was a hot one so we totally did the redneck baby diaper only thing. at least they were monogrammed.

we enjoyed yummy sangria at the beach club and beautiful skies

this stuff is amazing. when we lived in jacksonville, we would get peterbrooke chocolate for a special treat. my dad went for business last week and brought us home some goodies. my favorite has always been the chocolate covered popcorn but these pretzel bites are yum.

the start to making my green tea vodka drink!

fun fact: this is the only tea grown in the us and its grown in Charleston.

the ingredients

we spent the entire morning at the pool and the twins were great eaters in their lounge chairs. A sweet little girl shared her cups with us and Emma Cate would not stop drinking the pool water out of them. you win some you lose some. at least it was salt water instead of chlorine... Holden loved walking up and down the pool until he was in deep over his head. he would then scream for us to help him. we also did a fair amount of baby chasing along the pool deck. speed crawlers.

The house we are staying in has a skylight and the babies are obsessed with it. they loved laying with gigi and looking at the sky.

baby legs. couldn't resist.

after dinner we cut through the golf course and made our way to the pool for a pre bedtime swim. the grounds are so gorgeous here.

we decided to bring the floats with us and they were a HUGE hit. The pool is zero entry and the babies would run from the shallow into the deeper part with their floats on.

happy boy loved splashing and zooming around the pool in his float

sassy LOVED when gigi tossed her in the air. this girl is fearless.

Aunt Bo went to the pool with us and took some great pictures!

she is still crawling like this whenever she doesn't want to hurt her knees! we call her mowgli after the character from the jungle book.

the babies are loving watching seagulls. Emma Cate was totally in awe when the birds flew close to us while packing up to leave.

love.

We headed down to the beach for s'mores. The resort had the s'mores all set up and a nice fire going. it was sweet to see all the kiddos roasting marshmallows. Aunt Bo took these awesome pics of the kids while mom and I enjoyed some s'mores.

We are still having the BEST time and are so thankful to spend these days with family :)

Vacation All I Ever Wanted- Day 1

Yay Vacay! I can't beleive I'm actually blogging on vacation but its amazing how much more downtime I have at night. I'm loving catching up on reading and updating my blog! I know things will change when the rest of the family arrives later this week but for now it's just the babies, my mom, and me (Jay had to work and headed back to Charlotte this evening).

We arrived at Seabrook Island around 8pm on Saturday night. We had a bit of a rough ride with the babies and had to make a few unplanned stops. I just have to say that Chick-fil-a IS AWESOME on the road. We don't really eat fast food (especially the babies) but I loved that Chick-fil-a has grilled nuggets, fruit, and milk as a kid's meal and that it is super clean and the high chairs all come stocked with a sanitizing hand wipe and a plastic bib.
Our car was PACKED

Can you spot the babies? (and yes, I did ensure everything was secure and the babies were not going to be harmed by flying objects :) )

Jay and I went to Seabrook for a quick, easy babymoon a little over a year ago. I'm just realizing that I never really blogged about our trip! I will definitely have to go back and add that! We had a fabulous time on our little babymoon and when my parent's had the chance to rent their friend's cottage this year we told them to jump on it!

The vacation meals started with Spice, an Asian fusion new restaurant at the entrance to Seabrook. We didn't pull in until 9:30 and they were closing but thankfully stayed open to make us some take out. It was YUMMY and I would definitely recommend. Their hospitality was fabulous. We had these awesome drinks as we waited for our food. Green tea with berry vodka and a splash of cranberry and a slice of lime. I'm going to try and recreate and post the recipe soon. The babies slept wonderfully  and I don't think anyone woke up before 8:30.

Surprise gifts when we arrived. Towels by Tender Love and Cloth

The babies spent sometime exploring before bed. They were WILD when we arrived (it was half an hour past bedtime) so we let them burn some energy before putting them to bed.

Emma Cate found the toy bag

I woke up this morning to the sound of pouring rain. We made the best of it and unpacked and played while we waited for it to pass. As soon as the rain we gone we made our way to the beach club. We just dropped morning naps this past week to prep for preschool in September so I am praying the babies do well this week.

Already making the place a mess ours.

loving the zero entry pool at the beach club

except when this happens. but isn't that tush adorable?

gigi is always a huge help and one of the reasons I get to take so many pictures!

loves her daddy

lunch was at the pelican's nest. average food but gorgeous dining experience right on the water

We did a little more swimming after lunch but Holden was pooped and laying down on the concrete so we decided to head back for nap time.

jay enjoyed a little porch time during nap while mom and i ran to the grocery store to stock up

we made a little stop at the counter at freshfields for ice cream and cokes

snack time after nap

We LOVE riding bikes while at the beach. Our friends who we rented from let us borrow their bikes and baby attachment. As soon as Jay headed back to Charlotte, mom and I took the babies out for a spin. They loved it (well until Emma Cate stole Holden's paci and decided to lay all over him and pull his ears. He may have complained a bit and swatted at her...)

Before you go thinking that I made my poor mom tote the babies around I want you to know that the baby carrier only attaches to one of the bikes, our friend's husband's. I'm only 5'2 and could even get over this bike! My mom is 5'9 and volunteered to ride it and tote the babies. I felt bad but definitely was not complaining. Ha!

my view as navigator

we took a random turn and found this beautiful area. There is a pretty big dock for crabbing and a lookout tower with an amazing view over the marsh and towards the ocean.

something about being at the beach is bringing out the walker in this guy. I wish I could get the video to load but Holden has really taken off today. He did about ten steps on his own. I want to jump up and down and clap for him but it scares him and he falls so I keep my excitement to myself :) I can't wait to see his progress this week.

mom made yummy bruschetta appetizers and I contributed with grapes and cheese for the babies and prosciutto for us. Turns out that Emma Cate is a big fan of both! We made pizza for dinner and the babies inhaled it.
we had grand plans to take the babies back to the pool after dinner but during dinner it started pouring so we just played inside instead.

We had an amazing first day. I'm going to get a little sappy here but when we were in the thick of infertility, these are the moments I would dream about sharing with our children; wagon rides, beach trips, first steps. I am just sooo sooo sooo happy and thankful they are coming true. I don't ever take this time with our sweet babies for granted.  I have two friends that are currently battling infertility and if you could please say a prayer for them I would  really appreciate it.
