I've been a pretty bad Baby #3 mommy. I can't remember the last weekly post I did! Things have been crazy over the holidays and I'm thankful that we are settling in to our normal routines.
We are starting to feel the push to get things ready for baby! I created a little registry on amazon. I'm not having any showers this time around so I've just made a list of little things that Jay and I need to pick up. I had a hard time thinking of all the things I needed to get for a newborn. My biggest changes this time around are going to be Halo SleepSack Swaddles instead of traditional swaddling blankets. I've heard these are much better for the baby's hips. I'm also stocking up on newborn outfits. This baby will probably be a lot bigger than the twins and I've got to get some new clothes that will fit! The twins were still wearing newborn into the fall and those footie sleepers won't work so well on this summer baby :)
As far at the nursery goes, we haven't bought a thing! I'm ordering the mattress today from amazon and that's as far as we've gotten. My parents have generously decided to purchase the crib for us (we're going with a standard Jenny Lind) and Jay is going to paint it grey.
My mom and I have been on the hunt for a large grey buffalo check fabric and have had NO success (unless you count ordering it from europe for $78/yard!). I've decided to go with a vintage ticking stripe instead. I'm hoping to find the fabric this weekend.
We're also going to install doors on our basement office to create our guest room. Once that is done, we'll move the furniture down there and start to paint Shep's room! I'm hoping to do most of this the first week of February.
We've also started to talk about delivery plans and what we are going to do with the others. Jay's mom offered to take them to her house while we get settled in but I'm thinking (and I may be NUTS) that I'd rather have them here and keep some normalcy in their lives. I also am really excited to be together as a family of 5!
As far as delivery, I've got two options. I can try for a VBAC but they will not give me any sort of drugs to progress the labor, the only thing I can have is an epidural for pain. Option 2 is a scheduled c-section. My plan is to go for the VBAC if I go into labor on my own before April 17th. If I don't go into labor before that, we'll schedule the c-section for the 17th or 18th. I'm going into it super flexible. The biggest thing I want to avoid is any stress to that baby or an emergency c-section. I had some issues with my last c-section (lots and lots of bleeding) and I would really LOVE for this one to go smoothly if that's the case.

Pregnancy Highlights:
Today's Date: Friday, January 10, 2014
How Far Along: 26 weeks
Size of baby: Eggplant. The baby is 13.6-14.8 inches long and weighs between 1.5 to 2.5 pounds.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: I didn't weigh myself this morning but last check I was up around 13 pounds. I definitely had some major belly growth in the past few weeks and I'm starting to feel like my face and arms are getting puffy again. ugh!
Maternity Clothes: Yes for the pants, my tops alternate between maternity and non. Some of my regular shirts are becoming too short.
Gender: Boy- Arthur Shepherd
Movement: He is SUPER active for short periods of time and then likes a good rest. I have been having the crazy spasms and I thought he was having seizures but some internet research has lead me to believe they are just uterine spasms. I'm going to follow up with the doctor on Monday. His movements are also big enough now to see them from the outside. It still surprises me when my shirt starts moving and catches my eye.
Sleep: It has definitely become harder this past week. Just like with the twins, my belly is heavy and sort of weighs me down to the side. I'm still sleeping on my tummy although I'm sure I'm not supposed to! I was sleeping on my back up until a week ago but my belly is too heavy and it was hard to breathe. I am waking up around 4-5am but having no trouble going back to sleep. Still enjoying my ginormous bladder and thankful that I'm not waking up to use the restroom.

What I miss: wine and sushi (but I did find a good champagne replacement!)
Cravings: Nothing really but my hunger has really gone up. I feel like I eat all the time but dinners are still pretty small.
Symptoms: I have some acid reflux if I get up too fast. Some round ligament pain if I sneeze but really that's pretty much it.
Best Moment this week: Starting to talk about all the fun stuff that goes along with having a newborn! And dreaming of the moment when Emma Cate and Holden meet their new brother!
