I am not posting this to be mean, I promise. I thought it just too funny. On some Fridays, Jay's mom drives to Charlotte to watch the kids for us while we're at work (they don't have preschool on Fridays). The kids were asleep when I got home and so she and I chatted about their day. She told me that she didn't like what Jay laid out for them to wear the night before so she picked something else. She was describing what she put them in and I was sooo confused about the shirt she picked for Emma Cate. She described it as a thicker turtleneck that zipped up the back. Y'all, I could not think of anything she had like that. Finally, it occurred to me that she had put Emma Cate in her 1/4 zip fleece but put it on backwards and as a shirt! We both had a good laugh as she explained that Emma Cate kept pulling on it and acting funny in it all day. Poor little thing had a tag at her throat all day! I had to take a pic to show Jay.
I absolutely love watching my kids wake up from nap time. I think we're lucky that they share a room because they keep each other entertained until we go to get them. Sometimes I let them laugh and play for a good half hour before I go in there. I love watching them on the monitor. They play hide and seek behind the armoire. This video is from Friday's nap.
Emma Cate was having a tough time on Friday afternoon. She was just being super crabby. She decided to throw a fit in the hallway and I just left her there to continue her fit until she was ready to join us in the family room. She ended her fit and then just laid there looking at us like "Aren't you going to come get me?!"
We took the babies out for mexican on friday night. They were disasters. Covered in queso and quac but they loved it!
With my sister's wedding happening a few months after I give birth to Shep, I am really trying to only gain the normal amount of weight and nothing beyond (I am keeping Shep's health as my first priority and obviously I am not dieting at all during this process). I am starting to get back into working out so that it's not difficult to start back when the time comes. We recently joined the Y and on Saturday morning I took advantage of the gift certificate to Carolina Barre and Core that I got for my birthday. My goal is to make it to two barre classes a week and do cardio at the Y. Saturday morning was my first class and wooo it was hard. It was raining like crazy outside (but sooo proud of myself that I still got up and went).
We decided to head over to the y after I got home to take the kids swimming and re-join. It took us a good 30 minutes to fill out the paperwork to join and thank God we had my mom with us to help watch the kids while we got set up. We didn't realize that swim lessons had full use of the pool until 12 noon (lunch time) so that was pretty much a fail. We did put the kids in child watch for 20 minutes so they could get some playtime in and we could look around and sit down for a bit.
We ended the night with family and football. We made some yummy dips and watched the playoffs with my mom and sister. Holden learned a new word, "Bo", my sister's name and says it ALL THE TIME. He says it several different ways and I want to record him to remember how cute it is.
After the kids were in bed we heard Holden screaming and Jay went to get him. I think he just wanted to stay up and watch football a little longer.
Sunday was game day around here! The plan was to wake up early and surprise my family with panther's donuts but that didn't really happen. We decided to go to Krispy Kreme as a family. I think that Jay was a bit overwhelmed at the mess that the kids make with their donuts. He wanted to bath them and put them in their panthers gear to take them out to eat and I persuaded him to wait until after the donuts for a bath. I think he's glad he listened to me.
loves some donuts!
yum yum
We went home and got ready for the game. This little one will sit in my sink and watch me dry my hair and put on my make up. I can't believe she can be that still for up to an hour. She plays with our toothbrushes and my make up brushes. Now, our sink is sooo old. The bathrooms are one of the only things we haven't remodeled in this house. Our sink never had a stopper in it. Jay and I have never had a need for one. After Emma Cate dropped on of my make up brushes down there, we decided its time to figure out a new option. Unfortunately, our sink is so old that the ones they make currently will not fit our sink. Time for an upgrade....
Before the game selfies
Jay and I had tickets to the game and were so thankful my mom offered to babysit! It was so fun going on a little date with my husband during the middle of the day! I had my mom snap a family panther picture before we left.
Jay was getting sooooo annoyed with me but I wanted to take a few couple selfies during our little date. I loved looking back and seeing all the fun things we got to do together during the past year. Although kids have changed our lives 110%, its nice to be able to do some of the things that we used to do before children.
I made a fake grapefruit mimosa (there is a really awesome non-alcoholic champagne I found at total wine, I can't remember the name but I will definitely continue to buy this!). We tailgated by ourselves and while it would have been fun to meet up with our friends, it was sort of nice just to catch up :)
ready for the walk to the stadium, drink in one hand and panthers snuggie in the other!
our seats were up high. I shouldn't complain because they were free but I REALLY miss the seats we used to have in the lower level. I'm hoping we get new seats for next year :)
more of the selfies
Jay laughed at my snuggie but was pretty thankful we had it when the sun wasn't over our area anymore. This southern girl does NOT like to be cold!
THIS is the WORST part of upper level seats. It seriously took us 20 minutes to get down all the ramps. I pulled the preggo card and took the elevator up but didn't feel like competing for a spot with all the canes and walkers to ride it back down.
My mom was super kind to watch the babies a little extra so we could meet my sister, Bo and her friends at the uptown mellow mushroom. Unfortunately, the food was not great at all and we'll be sticking to the Selwyn location.
We ended the night working on our dryer. Our house had smelled like charcoal on Saturday and by Sunday we realized it was the dryer. The dryer went was full of yuck and had separated from the part that takes the air outside. The air from the dryer was blowing back into our home and the cause of the funky smell. Luckily it's all exposed in the mechanical area of our basement and a pretty easy fix. I did have to stand outside and serve as the airflow tester :)
